WATCH: Norris Pokes Fun at Sainz’s Big Monaco GP Claims

Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris have been the perfect teammate duo since they partnered up at McLaren. Even though Sainz has left the team for Ferrari now, he exchanges some occasional banter with his former McLaren teammate. So, when Norris and the Spaniard both landed on the podium at the Monaco Grand Prix, it was the perfect occasion for them to put their bromance on show.

The crown jewel of the F1 calendar saw the Spaniard secure his first podium with the Italian team by crossing the line in second place. Norris, on the other hand, secured his second podium this season, finishing in third place.

Lando Norris jokes around with Carlos Sainz at Monaco

In the post-race conference, Norris couldn’t hold back the joke he had for Sainz, as he had an amazing weekend at Monte Carlo.

Norris cheekily asked, “You stepped up as a driver this weekend?

To which Sainz replied, “No I always step up in Monaco. Always”

Max Verstappen also joined by saying, “Gets you excited.” Lando added, “You didn’t in quali”

Sainz had enough of the jokes, and said, “These guys, okay? It’s a serious question.”

How has the Spaniard’s season been so far?

Sainz joined the Maranello team at the start of the 2021 season and has been impressive till now. In his home race at Spain, he crossed the line in seventh place. which earned him six points for the championship.

At the Monaco GP, Sainz was spectacular throughout the whole weekend, starting with an amazing practice session. He was even aiming for pole for the race, but Charles Leclerc’s session-ending crash prevented him from doing so.

However, the 26-year-old was determined to redeem himself on Sunday, and he did exactly that. Sainz gave Ferrari their first podium of the season by finishing second place.

He currently sits in seventh place in the driver’s standings with 38 points, just behind his teammate Leclerc with 40 points. The Spaniard would hope that his podium hints at better things to come for himself and his team as well.
