WWE Superstar Matt Riddle is Impressed with UFC Star Nick Diaz’s Unique Training Footage

Matt Riddle had a meteoric but incredible UFC career. The Original Bro held a record of 8-3-2, which was very impressive. The current WWE superstar reverts to his MMA roots during his matches and his experience helps him analyse the training of other MMA stars.

Matt Riddle has some kind words for Nick Diaz

Nick Diaz, one of the toughest UFC stars in the world, is someone Riddle looks up to. Despite a controversial backstory, Diaz is one of the most iconic names in the world of mixed martial arts. Most recently, he targeted a return to the octagon and began training hard for it.

He posted a training video on Twitter, to which Riddle instantly responded. It shows the American training on the banks of the San Joaquin River in his hometown of Stockton, California. Riddle called him a ‘stallion’, a sign of respect from the former United States Champion to his peers.

Some even suggested Riddle would be in Diaz’s corner for his return to the UFC. In April, Dana White confirmed Nick Diaz would return to the UFC in 2021, and by the looks of it, he’s gotten absolutely shredded before it. He even touted his potential opponent to be Russian-born beast Khamzat Chimaev.

Upon returning to the octagon, Diaz vs Chimaev would be one of the biggest fights to go down in 2021. Add to that the possibility of seeing Riddle in his corner, and you have one fight you wouldn’t want to miss.

The Bro’s UFC career

Although his wrestling career has largely overtaken the success of his MMA run, Riddle’s MMA background is too good to be ignored. He was the fastest rising talent in the UFC, but a set of failed drug tests led to him being released from the promotion.

He made his UFC debut in 2008, fighting Dante Rivera, who was the more experience fighter. However, Riddle beat him in three rounds via unanimous decision, and announced his entry into the world of MMA with a bang.

Subsequent victories over names like Steve Bruno, Dan Kramer, and Greg Soto put Riddle on track to become a legitimate star. Unfortunately, a loss to newcomer Sean Pierson and multiple injuries derailed his successful run. Although he returned and picked up a Submission of the Night win, his MMA career was over.
