Bake Off: The Professionals 2021: Who are the judges and presenters?

The return of The Bake Off: The Professionals means the return of daring and technically brilliant bakes, towering treats and Cherish Finden’s sharper-than-sherbet criticisms.

Like the usual version of Bake Off, the goal on The Professionals is to make the best bake and be named star baker at the end of each episode, and hopefully win the coveted trophy at the end.

The difference is the professional chefs get to work in teams and the challenges are much, much tougher. And because baking is their day job, the judges are a lot more unforgiving if mistakes are made or flavours fall flat.

The new series kicks off with the contestants from small businesses in Cardiff, Bristol, Norfolk, Brighton and London taking on the daunting challenges of reinventing the jaffa cake and whipping up 24 tarte piémontaise.

Of course they won’t be alone in the Professionals kitchen – so who are the presenters and judges joining them?

The judges on Bake Off: The Professionals 2021 are Cherish Finden and Benoit Blin, who have been on the series since the beginning.

Cherish, who hails from Singapore, is an award-winning executive pastry chef, and has worked at the Langham in London.

Meanwhile Benoit, from France, is chef patissier at Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons in Oxfordshire, working closely with the legendary Raymond Blanc. He has also worked at the Ritz Paris and the Normandy Hotel.

Who are the presenters of Bake Off: The Professionals 2021?

The presenters are currently comedian Tom Allen and 2017 Great British Bake Off contestant Liam Charles, who hosted together when the series moved to Channel 4 from the BBC. Liam is also a judge on Junior Bake Off.

Tom is also no stranger to the Bake Off tent. He has appeared on the Celebrity version for Stand Up To Cancer, stood in for Noel Fielding on the main show and co-hosts sister show Extra Slice with Jo Brand.

Past hosts of Bake Off: The Professionals – back when it was called Bake Off: Crème de la Crème – were chef Tom Kerridge and presenter Angus Deayton.

Bake Off: The Professionals starts tonight at 8pm on Channel 4.
