Eamonn Holmes has shared his progress amid his chronic pain battle, revealing he’s making progress ‘slowly but surely’.

The This Morning star, 61, sparked concern earlier this year when he revealed he was in hospital and seeking treatment over health issues.

He later shared he suffered ‘three slipped discs’ and was getting around on a crutch, as well as taking steroid injections to ease the pain.

Now sharing another update on his recovery, Eamonn wrote on Twitter today: ‘Another session of Physio rehab – feels like I’m making progress – slowly but surely.

‘Chronic Pain now gone because of Steroid injections – Thank God.’

He’s still got a long way to go, however, as he continued: ‘Got to strengthen my back now. Small steps, literally. But feeling positive. Thanks for sharing your stories.’

Fans in the comments on his tweet were quick to share their support as well as their own stories with chronic pain, with some suggesting appropriate workouts to get his strength back safely.

One mused on the wonders of swimming, writing: ‘Swimming is AMAZING for your back. It keeps me totally mobile and pain free from sciatica due to a slipped disc and ruined knees after falling down a manhole! And no, I wasn’t even drunk!’

Another took a more tech-focused route, adding: ‘Buy a wii I did after my heart attack. I used it to exercise and see how I improved that was 10 yrs ago after getting covid and suffering chronic fatigue out came the wii again [sic].’

Last month Eamonn opened up about his health after sharing a worrying photo from hospital which sparked concern from fans.

Ever the professional, he was back on our screens soon after, telling This Morning viewers that it stemmed from a back injury.

‘I didn’t really do anything, it got worse and worse and worse, and it turned into chronic pain,’ he said. ‘And basically, from the point of view that I literally could not sleep at night – night time was the absolute worst.’

The ITV star later said on Loose Women: ‘Chronic pain, no matter what causes it – it doesn’t discriminate between whether you’re young or old, man or woman or whatever.

‘I couldn’t sleep at night, I just couldn’t sleep. Lying there at night, trying to get to sleep while Ruth was sound asleep beside me. Honestly it was awful.’

Discussing his recovery, Eamonn continued: ‘I’m six weeks down the road with that and I’ve got the injections which have taken away the acute pain.

‘I can sleep and that’s a blessing, absolutely great. But the physicality of not being able to walk straight…

‘I’m going to embark on a whole rehabilitation programme, I’ll get fit, I’ll get strong. It will take a while.’

His wife Ruth Langsdford added that it will be a ‘long road’ until the star is fully back on his feet again, explaining that it has been ‘difficult’ for them.
