Hikaru Shida Achieves Huge Milestone as The AEW Women’s Champion
AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida completed one year of her reign as the champion. She is the longest-reigning women’s champion and the longest-reigning champion across all divisions in AEW history.
Shida is the second champion of the title, while Nyla Rose was the inaugural champion. Shida defeated Rose at last year’s Double or Nothing PPV in a no-count-out, no disqualification match.
As we mentioned earlier, Shida is also the longest-reigning overall champion in AEW History. Before her, the previous record was of 277 days set by former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley.
AEW congratulated Shida on her career milestone. They have also announced that on this Friday’s special AEW Dynamite, the promotion will honor Shida and the one-year reign.
Hikaru Shida has been the @AEW Women’s World Champion for 1-Year, making her not only the longest reigning Women’s World Champion, but the longest reigning champion in #AEW History.

While AEW has been criticized for poorly booking its women’s division, Shida had tried her best to carry the division to the best of her capabilities.
She is a well-liked character and gives out great matches regularly. With a new brand like AEW, it was pivotal to have a reliable face as its face in the women’s division, something that Shida has done remarkably well.
Shida is currently training for her upcoming match against Britt Baker. The duo would put on a remarkable match regardless of who emerges victorious.
