EMBARGOED PICTURE: FOR PUBLICATION FROM MONDAY 15th MARCH 2021 From Flicker Productions KATE GARRAWAY FINDING DEREK Tuesday 23rd March 2021 on ITV Pictured: Kate Garraway in her London home On 30th March 2020 Derek Draper was admitted to hospital with Covid-19. One year later he is still not home. In this intimate and deeply personal film, journalist and presenter Kate Garraway allowed cameras to document her story as the family adjust to a new way of life. While grateful for the outpouring of sympathy towards her own situation, Kate knows she is simply going through what thousands of other families are all suffering too. And over the course of this film will meet those who have also been effected by coronavirus, from community nurse Orli, who after a year is still experiencing life changing symptoms of Long-Covid, and Julie whose husband Steve has still not regained consciousness after contracting the disease. Coming to terms with a life very different from just 12 months ago and with never-before-seen access into the real story behind the headlines, we uncover this emotional journey that has gripped the nations hearts. The National Television Awards has announced a brand new category, authored documentary, for this year’s upcoming ceremony.

Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway is among the 18 nominees for the gong for her heartbreaking documentary Finding Derek, which detailed her husband Derek Draper’s devastating coronavirus battle.

She’s up against Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock’s BBC film Race, Pop & Power and Marcus Rashford’s Feeding Britain’s Children.

Katie Price is also nominated for the gong for her documentary Harvey and Me, which followed the difficulties she and her son face as he enters adulthood, as is Sheridan Smith’s Becoming Mum.

Love Island’s Zara MCDermott has also earned a nod for Revenge Porn, a personal one-hour film that explored the impact on victims and whether perpetrators can expect to see consequences for their actions.

Ben Fogle, John Bishop, Roman Kemp, Freddie Flintoff, Greta Thunberg, Anton Ferdinand, Rio and Kate Ferdinand, Davina McCall and Alex Brooker have been longlisted too, as have Rob Burror and Micah Richards.

This year’s NTAs will take place at London’s O2 arena in September, with comedian Joel Dommett on hosting duties for the first time.

Longlisted programmes for new TV drama include Channel 5’s hit reimagining of All Creatures Great And Small, Michaela Coel’s hard-hitting I May Destroy You, the BBC’s adaptation of Normal People and tear-jerking drama It’s A Sin.

Also featuring in the category are true-crime dramatisations such as Des, Quiz, The Serpent, The Pembrokeshire Murders, The Salisbury Poisonings and White House Farm.

And a pandemic-ravaged year resulted in a strong showing on the longlist for streaming shows.

Netflix’s Bridgerton and The Queen’s Gambit made the list for best new drama, alongside Disney+ shows The Mandalorian and WandaVision.

Established favourites Call The Midwife and Vera are up in the fiercely competitive returning drama race, but the favourite may be the BBC’s juggernaut Line Of Duty.
