Lorde is set to make her return to the live music scene with an appearance at Primavera Festival next year after the line-up was confirmed.

We have not heard from the Royals singer since 2017 when she released her second album Melodrama and the lead single Green Light.

Like many festivals over the last year, Primavera was cancelled because of the Covid-19 pandemic, however it is full steam ahead for 2022 with a show including the likes of Tyler, the Creator and The Strokes.

Across two weekends in June over 150 gigs will take place in the Spanish city wrapping up on June 12 with a Brunch on the Beach party.

Tame Impala, Gorillaz, Charli XCX and Jorja Smith, who were booked to play in 2020 and 2021, have been added to the new line-up.

Other headliners include Megan Thee Stallion, Massive Attack, The National, Beck and Disclosure.

Last year Lorde confirmed she has been working on her third album in lockdown, telling fans who had signed up to her mailing list that her iconic hair has grown ‘big and long’.

‘I think after Melodrama came out I said I wouldn’t put out another record until my hair was long – both because hair takes time to grow, and I knew I needed time, and because I knew the next record would require the longest and wildest hair yet,’ she said of her two-year absence.

‘I started going back to the studio again in December, just for something to do, and to my surprise, good things came out. Happy, playful things. I felt my melodic muscles flexing and strengthening.’

The 23-year-old previously revealed she was cooking something up with Bleachers frontman Jack Antonoff after he flew over to see her at home in New Zealand. The Yellow Flicker Beat singer also jetted to Los Angeles to get in the studio.

Her appearance at Primavera is a good indication that we could be hearing her sultry tones at some point this year (or before June 2022 at least).
