Misfortunes Loom Over Bianca Andreescu, Yet Again Announces Upsetting News Ahead of French Open 2021

World number seven Bianca Andreescu, who recently made a comeback at the WTA Strasbourg Open, has reached the quarter-finals by defeating Maryna Zanevska in straight sets 6-1,6-4.

The Canadian looked comfortable on-court in the first two matches at Strasbourg after having to withdraw from the Italian Open due to the COVID-19 bubble restrictions.

Just when she appeared to have found her game before the French Open, Andreescu announced in her post match press-conference about the decision to withdraw from Internationaux de Strasbourg due to a small abdominal tear.

The Canadian also announced that it was just a precautionary measure as she didn’t want to take risks heading into Roland Garros. Andreescu didn’t play much tennis since 2020. Immediately after her astonishing victory over Serena Williams in the 2019 US Open finals, the Canadian withdrew from the WTA finals citing a knee injury.

At the on-going Strasbourg Open, Andreescu made a strong statement by thrashing Andrea Lazaro Garcia in the first round. This tournament became significant for the Canadian as it would be a perfect practice before the French Open starts.

Actually, the Canadian was supposed to make a comeback at the Madrid Masters last month. But, she tested positive for COVID-19 after arriving in Madrid. As a result, Andreescu had to withdraw from Rome subsequently.
For a fiercely talented player, the young Canadian is unfortunate to have faced back-to-back health issues which are preventing her from shining on a tennis court. While she appeared confident of a comeback at Roland Garros next week, the scale of the latest abdominal tear is yet to be revealed.
