Reggie Miller Says LeBron James and Anthony Davis ‘Have to Be Near Perfect’ to Win the Championship
The Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Phoenix Suns in Game 1 of their playoff series. LeBron James and Anthony Davis did not perform well as they lost to the ever-improving Suns.
With Chris Paul and Devin Booker leading the line, the Suns have been the surprise contenders this season. However, the Lakers are the favorites to go through because they have Bron and Brow in their ranks.
They will hope to advance in this series to win their second NBA title in successive seasons. Former Indiana Pacers legend, Reggie Miller, appeared on the Dan Patrick Show to discuss the Lakers’ chance of advancing in this series.
LeBron James and Anthony Davis need to step up
Miller commented on how both their star players did not show up in the first game. Likewise, he stressed how AD needs to step up to improve the Lakers chances to win the series.
“That LeBron and AD are gonna have to play near perfect for them to be back-to-back championships. I think in the bubble, where you played in one or two venues, there was no travel, I think you could get away with that.
“Now that you have go into other people’s arenas, I think LeBron and AD, especially AD. AD has got to show why he is one of the Top-10 players in the NBA.
“He has the talent, and he has the skill and with phoenix being an undersized team he should be dominating, and we kinda got a glimpse of this when they played the Golden State and escaped.
“Let’s face it, Golden State should have beaten the Lakers in that 7-8 matchup,” said Miller.
It is clear for everyone to see that these two players need to perform for the Lakers to advance. AD is important to the team as LeBron is struggling with a series of injury troubles. The onus is on these two players to perform as they face the risk of losing this series to the Suns.

Davis will be key for the Lakers
The Los Angeles-based outfit snapped up Anthony Davis in order to support James as he helped them win the NBA championship. Even though Davis is one of their most important players, the Brow has not been up to the mark this season.
While he averaged 26.1 points per game in his first season, the former Pelicans man has only averaged 21.8 points this time around. Due to his injuries, Davis has only played 36 games this season.
The other players in the team need to stand up and perform for the team. The Lakers have a significant size advantage over the Suns and should look to exploit the same in their next game.
The chances of them winning their next championship solely rests on the performances of Bron and Davis. While they have a talented squad, the performances of these two players are key for their future success.
Will they be able to carry the Lakers to the next round?
