“This is the Worst Decision we Have Made as a Sport” – Kevin Harvick Is Not Happy with NASCAR

Close to the end of the Cup Series race at COTA, the officials decided to stop the race and declare the results. However, Stewart-Haas driver Kevin Harvick believes that the race should never have gone ahead. The veteran insisted that the conditions were far too treacherous for the drivers.

Harvick was not at all happy about having to deal with such conditions on the track. He said, “We don’t have any business being out in the rain, period. All I can say is this is the worst decision we have made as a sport, that I’ve been a part of. I’ve never felt more unsafe in my whole racing career, period.”

Kevin Harvick was justified in his complaints

Considering that there were a couple of massive crashes, Harvick was validated. Those crashes occurred because of poor visibility and some were pretty massive. Harvick himself was a victim of one such almighty whack on the rear end of his car. Apparently, Ryan Blaney inexplicably backed off and Christopher Bell had nowhere to go.

Harvick’s spotter noticed the potential disaster and told him to back off. Unfortunately, he was so busy focusing on what was ahead of him, he did not realize what was happening behind him. Needless to say, a startled Bubba Wallace rear-ended Harvick.

According to Harvick’s onboard camera footage, he could barely see anything more than a foot or two down the track. So when Kevin Harvick pulled over to retire for good, he pulled no punches on his thoughts about the conditions. Another victim of poor visibility was Martin Truex Jr. who walloped the back of Michael McDowell’s car.

The carnage did not stop there as Cole Custer then rear-ended a stricken Truex. As it turned out, the impact sent the #19 Toyota briefly in the air on top of Custer’s #41 Ford. Needless to say, the incident triggered a red flag on Lap 26 and the car even caught fire.
