March this year marked one of the most dramatic series of events ever seen on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, when Piers Morgan – who’d been on the programme since 2015 – quit the show.

Piers’ departure came after he was heavily criticised for his comments regarding Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, with more than 40,000 people complaining to Ofcom in early March after the broadcaster said that he didn’t believe the Duchess of Sussex’s claim that she suffered suicidal thoughts.

Several guest presenters have since taken his place on GMB alongside Susanna Reid, including Alastair Campbell and Adil Ray.

It’s been speculated that Richard Madeley could become a permanent replacement for Piers, with Richard saying that if he received a call about the job, ‘of course I would talk to them’.

But in the meantime, what is Piers up to?

What is Piers Morgan doing now?

Despite Piers no longer being a part of GMB, he does still work with ITV.

The 56-year-old’s show Life Stories is still being aired by the broadcaster, with the first episode of the new series set to air on Tuesday June 1.

The premiere of series 20 will see Piers, who writes for the Daily Mail as a columnist, grill Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer.

It will mark the first time the ex-GMB host has interviewed the leader of a political party since he spoke to Gordon Brown in 2010.

Sir Keir is set to discuss his childhood in Surrey, his family life and his move into politics from law, culminating in his appointment as Labour leader last April.

Piers claimed that Prime Minister Boris Johnson snubbed an invite to appear on Life Stories, tweeting: ‘To those asking if I’ve also invited @BorisJohnson to do Life Stories… yes, of course, but he declined.

‘Our fearless Prime Minister prefers to hide in fridges than be interviewed by me. So, full respect to @Keir_Starmer for having the bottle to do it.’

Andrew Neil’s new channel GB News is soon set to launch, with Piers heavily rumoured to be joining the programme.

If he does become a part of the roster, Piers will be working with presenters including Kirsty Gallacher, Simon McCoy and Alastair Stewart.

In April, Piers joked that he would need more than £2million to be enticed to join GB News.

But it appears chair Andrew is very keen to sign Piers up, stating in March: ‘Piers would be a huge asset to GB News and we’ll definitely look at that.’

GB News’ broadcasts will include a mix of news coverage, debates and opinion segments.

Reports have claimed that GB News will be similar to the US-based Fox News, some have criticised the upcoming channel prior to its launch for appearing too ‘right-learning’ with its political stance.

With GB News expected to launch at the end of May, we’ll just have to see if Piers has kept his involvement under wraps.
