On the horse’s only previous run, a point to point at Borris House racecourse near Wexford in Ireland last November, he demolished rivals by eight lengths.
The £570,000 forked out for him matches the record fee paid for Jonbon.
Both horses hold the distinction of being the most expensive point-to-pointers sold at public auction.
But if you’re thinking of backing Classic Getaway on his debut under rules, you may want to think again.
He has gone in as huge odds-on favourite at 2-7, meaning you have to stake £7 just to win £2.

Agent Tom Malone was the man tasked with securing the purchase on behalf of Cheveley Park Stud.

And he said of the horse after signing the cheque at Yorton Farm sales last December: “You couldn’t paint him, he’s that beautiful.”
Willie’s top jockey son Patrick gets the ride on Classic Getaway, who will take on the likes of Denise Foster’s Calagogo.
Interestingly, Classic Getwaway has already been priced up for next year’s Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham Festival.
He is a 40-1 shot for that – with Jonbon second favourite (8-1) behind 4-1 favourite Kilcruit.
