‘Bad MF’: NBA Players React to Luka Doncic and Mavericks Winning Game 2 Against LA Clippers

The Dallas Mavericks faced off against the LA Clippers tonight for the second game of their playoff series. Given that the Clippers had two of the biggest superstars in Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, championship expectation is a must and thus are the favorites in the series.

Despite the Clippers being the favourites in the matchup, the Mavs had won the first game courtesy of a 32 point triple double performance by the Slovenian prodigy Luka Doncic. With the Mavs stealing the first game in the Staples Center, the second game was a must-win for the Clippers in order to tie the series.

Luka Doncic and the Mavericks shock the LA Clippers

Just like the first game, the Mavs put on a show in the first quarter but the Clippers weren’t far behind either with the Mavs leading 35-33 in the first quarter. The offensive barrage continued in the second quarter with the Clippers leading 73-71. While Luka Doncic led the Mavs with 23 points, Kawhi Leonard carried the Clippers offensively with 30 points.

But the Mavs pulled through in the third quarter putting on a clinical display as they outscored the Clippers 30-19 in the quarter. Falling to a nine point deficit, the Clippers did try to catchup on the red-hot Mavs. But their was no stopping the Mavs’ shooting barrage tonight as they had a field day from the three point-line.

Given how woeful defense was in the first half, it was expected that the Clippers at least would step up to limit Luka. But the fourth seeded LAC did not use two of their finest perimeter defenders in Kawhi and Paul George on Luka for majority of the game.

With a smaller guard in Patrick Beverley guarding him, the Slovenian hammered the Clippers in the second half, adding 16 more points. Apart from Luka, the Mavs uncharacteristically continued their incredible shooting from the three point line in game 2.

After shooting 47.2% from the perimeter, the Mavs were absolutely lethal tonight, shooting 52.9% from the three point-line. Starters like Tim Hardaway Jr. and Kristaps Porzingis and Maxi Kleber stepped up in the game.

Scoring a combined 61 points and shooting 11-14 from the perimeter, Hardaway Jr., Kleber and Porzingis certainly played their part in Mavs’ second win in a row as they defeated the Clippers 127-121. After losing two home games, the Clippers are in big trouble.

Twitter reacts to Dallas Mavericks beating the Clippers in game 2

Twitter went absolutely berserk after Luka and the Mavs beat the Clippers for the second game in a row. While some hailed Doncic’s offensive masterclass, some criticized the Clippers lackluster performance.

Despite having all the star power, the Clippers were abysmal in the game especially defensively. If they want to rally a comeback, they will have to limit the Mavs’ incredible offense and put on an all-round display. Do you think the Clippers can make a comeback?
