Conor McGregor Makes History-Becomes Only the Second Person After Floyd Mayweather to Rake in Over $200 Million

Conor McGregor may not have had his best performances inside the octagon in the past few years. However, outside the octagon, McGregor has been extremely successful in all of his business ventures. His pride and joy ‘Proper 12’ Irish Whiskey has been doing extremely well and has been a cash cow for him.

McGregor recently made news when he topped the Forbes list for the highest-paid athletes. Beating out the likes of soccer stars and global icons Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Although a chunk of McGregor’s earnings came from the sale of his stake in his whiskey company, it is reported that he crossed the $200 million mark in income. ‘The Notorious’ became only the second athlete to earn over $200 million in a calendar year behind Floyd Mayweather, who did it twice.

Can Conor McGregor have the last laugh and secure a mega pay-day against Dustin Poirier?

The Notorious’ is easily one of the wealthiest athletes in the world. He secured a $100 million payday against Floyd Mayweather in his first and only bout as a professional boxer. And recently, he sold his stake in ‘Proper 12’ Irish Whiskey for a reported $170 million. His brand of liquor is the fourth best-selling Irish whiskey in the world. And therefore, there is no need for Conor McGregor to continue fighting in order to keep food on the table.

However, McGregor has been more active this year than he has been over the past few years. He fought in January, and his second fight this year will be in July. He stated that he would like to fight one more time before the year ends.

McGregor remains the top attraction in the sport despite not being his former dominant self. He reportedly sold a record 1.5 million PPV buys during his rematch with Dustin earlier this year.

The third fight should generate a lot more given that fans will be allowed back into the arena as well. It will be interesting to see if UFC 264 can beat the PPV numbers that UFC 257 bought in. If it does both McGregor and Dustin Poirier are in for a mega payday.
