Devin Haney Trainer- Who Trains the WBC Lightweight Champ?
Devin Haney ranks among the biggest boxing prospects today. With his out-of-the-box thinking, Haney has stormed to the peak of the 135lbs division.
To keep himself at the top of his game, Haney spends an extensive amount of time in the gym while preparing for his fights. But do you know who trains the 22-year-old?
The WBC lightweight champ was under the guiding light of his father, Bill Haney. ‘The Dream’ enjoyed an exemplary amateur boxing career under the tutelage of his father, and he even turned pro while under his wing.
The father-son duo has been a part of several big nights and they’ve seen cosmic success together. Bill Haney taught his son a sublime style of fighting. And the latter consistently applies the same when he steps into his fights.
Moreover, with this approach, Haney has dispatched every opponent that he has ever faced.
Not only Bill Haney, but ‘The Dream’ has worked under a number of coaches. In fact, last year Haney worked with boxing great, Floyd Mayweather. He attended ‘TBE’s virtual training sessions first and later met him for in-person training and workouts.
Haney has always been assertive about how much he wishes to be like Floyd Mayweather. And seeking substantial guidance from ‘Pretty Boy’ has undeniably helped the young gun in many ways.
However, a huge chunk of Haney’s success should be credited to his father. But abruptly this year, Bill Haney signed off as his son’s coach as he wanted to spend time on his business and personal life.

It is reported that the renowned boxing coach, Ben Davison, has picked up the reins as Haney’s coach. However, it is still unclear whether the young boxing force will be under Davison’s wing for a short or a long period.
For now, Haney is only focused on bolstering his record, and Davison’s addition to the team will help him add to his skill sets and overall boxing IQ. That said, it’ll be interesting to see if this trainer-fighter duo fetches a long pathway in the sport in the coming time.
