Drag Race UK’s Tayce doesn’t think Eurovision could ‘handle’ United Kingdolls: ‘They’re not ready for bad bitches like us’

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK finalist Tayce has addressed the calls for United Kingdolls to compete in next year’s Eurovision Song Contest… claiming the competition ‘can’t handle’ the fabulous group.

At Eurovision 2021, the UK was represented in Rotterdam by James Newman, who – despite winning support from both his home nation and his fellow competitors – wound up scoring a devastating nul points.

Looking ahead to who could represent the UK at next year’s event, James has thrown his support behind United Kingdolls, a band formed in series two of BBC’s Drag Race UK by drag queens Tayce, Bimini Bon-Boulash, Lawrence Chaney and A’Whora.

So could we see United Kingdolls grace the Eurovision stage to perform UK Hun? to millions of viewers across Europe? Metro.co.uk caught up with Tayce during her performance at The Clapham Grand to see what she thought of the idea.

‘I mean, you know at the end of the day honey, Eurovision is not ready for a group of bad bitches like us. So if they can’t handle it, we’re not gonna give it. You know what I mean?’ the 26-year-old said.

Dishing out a serving of Tayce’s signature sass, she added: ‘I thought we were slaying that s**t and for them to not even consider us? How rude!’

Tayce remarked that as things stand at the moment with her busy schedule, she wouldn’t have much time to take on the commitment anyway.

‘I’m happy in or out of it, do you know what I mean? I haven’t got time anyway. So, I go with the flow,’ she said.

One of Tayce’s recent projects involved starring in Little Mix’s Confetti music video alongside Bimini and A’Whora, which saw band members Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall transform into drag kings on the dancefloor.

Tayce said that after seeing Little Mix ‘at the odd gig or so’, it was ‘nice to actually hang out, do something on a video together and just f**k it up’.

After saying that she congratulated Leigh-Anne and Perrie on their pregnancies over DM, Tayce stated: ‘I think me and A’Whora should fill in while they’re away to be honest’. We’d love to see it!

As for whether they could join Little Mix on their Confetti tour, Tayce remained as mysterious as always, simply replying: ‘Who knows? Let’s see what happens baby.’

While there’s high demand for United Kingdolls to represent the UK at Eurovision, a petition has also been set up calling for Frock Destroyers – the band formed on Drag Race UK series one – to take part.

The petition currently has over 13,000 signatures, with fans hoping they’ll see Baga Chipz, Blu Hydrangea and Divina de Campo strut their stuff in the Eurovision arena.

Other artists who’ve put themselves forward include Steps and Bill Bailey, who tweeted: ‘I’d be happy to throw my hat in the ring for #Eurovision 2022.’

So who do you think should represent the UK at Eurovision next year? Take your pick.

Series one and two of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK are available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
