Franky Monet Sends a Message to the NXT Women’s Division after her Dominant Debut

Year after year, the NXT Women’s division proves to the world that it’s second to none. With superstars like Io Shirai, Raquel Gonzalez, and Candice LeRae, the division is firing on all cylinders. However, the division has received its newest attraction, and it is former IMPACT Women’s Champion, Franky Monet.

Franky Monet makes an impression on the WWE Universe

Known as Taya Valkyrie in IMPACT and on the independent scene, Monet debuted on the episode of NXT after WrestleMania. She walked out to confront Raquel Gonzalez, the new NXT Women’s Champion, and introduce herself as a potential threat. However, the fearless new champion shooed her away once Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley made their way to the ring.

A month later, Franky Monet made her NXT in-ring debut against another Performance Center signee Cora Jade. La Vera Loca made quick work of the young talent before beating her with a move she calls the Road to Valhalla, another version of Beth Phoenix’s Glam Slam. After the win, Monet met with McKenzie Mitchell who asked her if she has put the women’s locker room on notice.

“100% McKenzie. That’s what I came here to do; that’s what I’ve done until getting here to WWE. And now I will do it here for the first time in WWE NXT. So all of you women from the locker room, take note, because you’ve got a big old target on your back. Especially you Raquel. La Vera Loca is coming for each and every one of you.”

It was a confident statement from a confident woman.

NXT Women’s Champion picks up a loss

On a night where Franky Monet announced herself on the black and yellow brand, the champion suffered an enormous loss. Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai fell to the former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart in tag team competition.

Although Raquel wasn’t pinned, Ember Moon got the winning pinfall, which put her ahead of everyone else for a future title shot. She is a former NXT Women’s Champion and has beaten the likes of Shayna Baszler, Bianca Belair, and Sonya Deville, before dropping the title and moving up to the main roster.

However, Raquel won’t be a simple obstacle for her to climb. After destroying Io Shirai at Takeover, Gonzalez beat women’s wrestling veteran Mercedes Martinez, a win that cemented her as the toughest NXT Champion in a long time. Only time will tell when she’ll drop the title, but the loss on the recent episode shows that there are chinks in her armor.
