“I’m Gonna Mandate That S***”- Teofimo Lopez Threatens to Stop Joseph Diaz vs. Javier Fortuna From Happening

Teofimo Lopez recently fumed over WBC’s idea of aligning Javier Fortuna and Joseph Diaz for the WBC interim lightweight title.

Earlier this year, Ryan Garcia claimed the WBC interim lightweight title, and he was all set to defend it against Fortuna in July.

However, ‘KingRy’ abruptly pulled out of this fight and the WBC consequently decided to stage a fight between Fortuna and Diaz for the interim strap.

But the lightweight kingpin didn’t enjoy this prevailing scenario, and he even threatened to stop this fight from happening.

Speaking to FightHype, he said, “The WBC just put out there with the whole bulls*** with ‘Jo Jo’ Joseph Diaz, and who is it, Fortuna? That s*** ain’t gonna happen.

“I’m the franchise World Champion. I’m the Super World Champion I mean, I’m gonna mandate that s***. I’m gonna stop all that bulls**, ain’t nobody knows.”

Lopez even took a dig at the WBC lightweight champ, Devin Haney. He added Haney called him out just to get famous on the internet. But Lopez certainly feels Haney’s is hot on the internet, whereas he’s the ‘real-life hot’.

‘The Takeover’ will step inside the squared circle on June 19th to defend his multiple 135-pound titles. This will be his first prime title defense at his elite weight class. And Lopez is all charged up to give it his best shot.

Also, the 16-0 boxer wants to keep his division under check. So that viable fighters and rugged contenders get a chance towards the title.

Should Teofimo Lopez battle out Devin Haney to settle the debate of the ultimate lightweight champ?

After getting past Kambosos Jr., the only fight that Teofimo Lopez should root for is an undisputed war with Devin Haney. For now, the lightweight division is filled with undefeated and stern contenders. And the Haney vs Lopez fight will help determine one staunch champion of the division.

Additionally, both of them are in their prime. And this can just turn out to be the ideal time for this pair to collide. It’ll be interesting to see how things shape up for this pair in the coming few months.

What do you make of Lopez’s comments?
