‘I’m Not a Matchmaker’ – Stipe Miocic on Jon Jones Getting the Heavyweight Title Shot Before Him

The former UFC heavyweight champion of the world, Stipe Miocic, is a great man. Besides his day job of fighting in the octagon in front of millions of people, he also saves lives as a part-time firefighter. However, his MMA career is not going as well as it was before.

Miocic lost his belt to Francis Ngannou at UFC 260 after the Cameroonian knocked him out in the second round of the fight. It was a dominant display from the champion and one that showed no signs that he would lose to anyone in the near future. However, if anyone can do it, it’s the man who has already beaten Ngannou once.

Miocic appeared in an interview on Submission Radio to talk about his title prospects and a possible return date for his next fight with the UFC. The interviewer, Kacper Rosowlowski, asked him about Jon Jones getting the title shot before him.

Listen, I’m not a matchmaker. I’m just a fighter. I was a matchmaker, I would be fine. It’s not my decision, (as) it’s the UFC’s decision. It’s what they want,Miocic said.

Rosowlowski then asked him about those rumors of a fight with Jon Jones or if he had heard from the UFC regarding that. “Nothing, nothing,” Stipe replied.

Stipe Miocic believes that the Heavyweight division is one of the best

The heavyweight division has been the talk of the town in recent weeks, with all the speculation surrounding Ngannou’s next opponent. Another interviewer Denis Shkuratov asked Stipe whether he liked the direction in which everything was going in for the division.

Yeah, definitely. I think the heavyweight division is one of the best divisions. Everyone wants to watch. I’m happy that guys are moving on up and making people excited again,” he concluded. The UFC heavyweight roster is indeed really deep, and the division is in a good place right now.

A rematch with Ngannou will surely be on the cards for Miocic, and no one knows how potent he can be after a long rest. It will be a fight that would certainly be one of the most-watched fights in recent memory.

Do you think Stipe Miocic can beat Francis Ngannou?
