Jennifer Aniston praised her ex-husband Brad Pitt and his guest performance on Friends ahead of the sitcom’s eagerly-awaited reunion.

Jennifer and Brad were Hollywood’s golden couple in the early noughties after tying the knot in 2000, so everybody tuned in to watch Brad play Rachel Green’s enemy in the season eight Friends episode The One With The Rumour.

As Jennifer, now 52, reminisced about the sitcom’s best guest stars with former castmates Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow, she singled out her former husband as one of her favourites.

The three actors were asked by Access Hollywood who their favourite guest stars were, with Lisa, 57, saying: ‘I was blown away by so many. Ben Stiller was really funny. I thought Reese [Witherspoon] was fantastic… Paul Rudd was great.’

Ben played an angry date of Rachel’s, Reese played Rachel’s sister Jill, and Paul played Phoebe’s husband Mike.

Courteney, 56, added Giovanni Ribisi (Frank Jr) and Tom Selleck (Richard), while Teri Garr, who played Phoebe’s birth mother, Aisha Tyler, who played Ross and Joey’s love interest Charlie, Sean Penn, who played Ursula’s fiance Eric, Alec Baldwin, who played an overly positive boyfriend of Phoebe’s, and Charlie Sheen, who played a sailor Phoebe dated, were also mentioned.

Jennifer then said: ‘And Mr Pitt was wonderful’, with Lisa agreeing: ‘He was fantastic!’

In the 2001 Thanksgiving episode The One With The Rumour, Brad played Will Colbert, a former classmate of Ross, Monica and Rachel’s who comes along to Thanksgiving dinner.

Rachel can’t remember Will as he has lost a lot of weight, and is also oblivious to the fact that he despises her and set up the ‘I Hate Rachel Green Club’ with Ross – who she is now having a baby with.

Brad, now 57, received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for outstanding guest actor in a comedy series.

However, four years on from the episode, in 2005, Jennifer and Brad split after five years of marriage, after the actor met Angelina Jolie on the set of Mr and Mrs Smith.

He went on to marry Angelina and they welcomed three biological children together, while Brad also adopted Maddox, Pax and Zahara.

The high-profile couple split in 2016 and were made officially single in 2019, although custody arrangements between the exes are still ongoing.

While Jennifer and Brad’s split was one of the most highly publicised break-ups of all time in Hollywood, the pair are on good terms, and pretty much broke the internet at the 2020 Screen Actors Guild Awards when Brad and Jen were pictured embracing.

Jennifer will join Courteney, Lisa, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry and Matt LeBlanc this Thursday for Friends: The Reunion, which will see the cast back together on screen for the first time since the show ended in 2004.

During the show, the cast will recall their experiences at the height of Friends’ success, and perform table reads of choice scenes, including part of the episode The One With The Jellyfish.

Celebrity guest stars will also be dropping by including BTS, David Beckham, Lady Gaga and Cara Delevingne, as well as some classic Friends stars, including Maggie Wheeler (Janice) and James Michael Tyler (Gunther).

Friends: The Reunion airs at 8pm on Sky One on Thursday May 27.
