“Next Time I Miss a Forehand….”: Serena Williams Discloses Warning From Patrick Mouratoglou Ahead of French Open 2021

Former world number one and 23-time grand slam winner Serena Williams, who plans to make a solid return to form at the French Open next week, has been intensely training with her coach, Patrick Mouratoglou at his academy in Nice, France.

After facing consecutive defeats in both Rome and Parma, the American has distanced herself from being one of the top contenders to win the title in Paris. But, the experience of playing over two decades of competitive tennis will sure help Serena find her mojo at Roland Garros.

Serena Williams reveals coach Patrick Mouratoglou’s warning ahead of French Open

The American was back to training after taking a couple of days off to attend the Monaco Grand Prix and also her coach’s prestigious event, the Ultimate Tennis Showdown. The legendary player, who occasionally shares her practice sessions on social media, posted a “danger of death” symbol after one of her practices.

Serena tagged coach Mouratoglou in the pic and wrote, “said next time I miss a forehand”.

Serena began her association with Mouratoglou in 2012, a year which marked the American getting her first-ever opening round defeat at Roland Garros. With the help of Patrick, Serena got back to her winning ways and became the number one player again.

Replying to Serena’s picture, the French coach wrote,”Ahahahah that is why you are so accurate”. 

The American’s grand slam victory run had stopped at the 2017 Australian Open, where she defeated sister Venus Williams in the finals. Since then, Serena was able to reach four major finals and lost all of them to Angelique Kerber, Naomi Osaka, Simona Halep, Bianca Andreescu.

The pressure on Serena to win a record 24th grand slam title got the better off her whenever she played in the finals. But, the veteran athlete looks more relaxed now than ever, and it might benefit her in the quest to win another major.
