People are only realising now how old Johnny Knoxville is as Jackass’ silver fox rocks fashion shoot

Johnny Knoxville absolutely owned a fashion shoot this week, with his glistening grey hair on full display – which has prompted fans to lose their breakfast over the Jackass star’s age.

While we may be excused in believing the actor – who continues to throw himself around with the zest of a teenage boy going through puberty – is hardly a day over 30, Johnny is in fact the big 5-0.

And so many people are not handling this realisation well. (Seeing as Noel Fielding’s age floored fans last year, we shouldn’t be surprised.)

The 50-year-old who is 50 fronted the latest issue of US GQ and, along with a no holds barred interview for the magazine, he also got dressed up in an array of incredibly stylish duds you definitely don’t want to get fluids, bodily or not, on.

Opening up on his injuries over the years – including tearing his urethra which forced him to use a catheter for three years – as well as Bam Margera’s battle with addiction, the profile was a lot.

It was a line in the article that stated Johnny started Jackass aged 29 in the year 2000 that hit home for many, with one musing on Twitter: ‘Seeing Johnny Knoxville at 50 really makes you think about the passing of time.’

This cold hand of age semed to be playing on many people’s minds as another mused: ‘As soon as I read “Johnny Knoxville is 50” I started to feel like death is coming for me at light speed.’

Perhaps a lot of it came down to our own refusal to accept we’re ageing alongside Johnny, with one fan adding: ‘I know jackass premiered about two decades ago but I was not expecting to come to the realization that Johnny Knoxville is 50.’

Even author Roxane Gay was stumped, as she shared the profile on Twitter: ‘I love Jackass and Viva La Bam and have seen every episode. Excited about this profile of Johnny Knoxville, who I never realized was older than me!’

For many others, they were both shocked and relieved the stunt man – who was hospitalised alongside comrade Steve-O just days into filming the last movie – had even made it to the milestone age.

Considering what the star had put his body through over the years, one celebrated: ‘If you ever feel like something is impossible just remember that Johnny Knoxville has lived to see 50.’

One of the more prominent moments from Johnny’s interview that moved fans was his take on Jackass member Bam, who claimed he was fired from the film for not taking part in ‘contract-mandated rehab’ while also slamming Johnny and saying he had ‘betrayed him’.

Speaking about the situation, Johnny had followers emotional as he noted when members of the Jackass family are struggling everyone tries to help, but that ‘at the end of the day, that person has to want help’.

He added: ‘We want Bam to be happy and healthy and get the help he needs. We tried to push that along. I think that’s all I really want to say about it.’

Johnny Knoxville’s interview appears in GQ’s June/July issue on newsstands June 1.
