Teofimo Lopez Unwilling to Fight Josh Taylor in UK for Bizarre Reason

Last weekend, Josh Taylor put on a clinical performance against Jose Ramirez. With that win, he became the undisputed champ in the super-lightweight division and established his reign at this weight class. Moreover, with the undisputed title under his wing, Taylor is now open to fighting any and everybody from the division.

Teofimo Lopez has a powerful urge to face the Scottish boxer. Recently, Lopez interacted with Michael Benson and detailed his anticipation to fight ‘The Tartan Tornado’. Also, he revealed why he wouldn’t take this fight in the UK.

“Josh Taylor did what he had to do. It was a great fight, great event. You know, Top Rank and everything that they did… The whole thing now is about making those fights happen and hopefully, these guys are willing to step up,” said Lopez.

He continued, “I won’t take the fight in the UK. Not because I don’t believe I will beat him in the UK. It’s just the fact that I can just see how much of the animosity or just a way that folks are caring that I’m not undisputed at 35 (135-pound division).”

‘Take Over’ admitted that he’s never dodged a fight in his short yet attractive career. Moreover, he even confessed that he’s trying to be a cash cow in the division, allowing every opponent he faces to make a huge paycheck. For now, though, Lopez is lined up to face George Kambosos Jr. for his mandatory title defense.
