Windows 11 incoming? Microsoft boss reveals NEW ‘next-gen’ Windows is coming six years after Windows 10

MICROSOFT has teased the next major version of Windows for the first time.

It’s been six years since Windows 10 came out – but Microsoft’s chief has now talked up a “next gen” replacement.

Windows 10 was originally mooted as “the last version of Windows”.

But the world of computing has changed wildly since 2015, and Microsoft now needs to change its game.

Speaking at a special Microsoft presentation, top boss Satya Nadella revealed we should expect a major new Windows release soon.

“Soon we will share one of the most significant updates to Windows of the past decade,” the Microsoft chief explained.

“To unlock greater economic opportunity for developers and creators.

“I’ve been self-hosting it over the past several months, and I’m incredible excited about the next generation of Windows.

“Our promise to you is this: we will create more opportunity for every Windows developer today.

“And welcome every creator who is looking for the most innovative, new and open platform to build and distribute and monetise applications.

“We look forward to sharing more very soon.”

It’s unclear if Satya is referring to Windows 11, or some other as-yet-unnamed version.

Alternatively, the latest version of Windows is 10.0.21387.1. It’s possible that Microsoft could drop Windows 10.1 as its “next gen” release.

In any case, it’s looking likely that this will be the biggest shake-up to Windows since Windows 10 launched in 2015.

Sadly, Satya didn’t say exactly when the new release would be unveiled, so it’s a waiting game.
