Boxing champion turned MMA fighter Claressa Shields sat down with ‘TheMacLife’ and shared her thoughts before her MMA debut. Shields will compete under the unified MMA rules for the first time on June 10 under the PFL banner. She takes on Brittney Elkin inside the Ocean Casino Resort, Atlantic City, and is looking to make a meaningful impact.

‘T-Rex’ Shields has taken all the necessary steps to ensure that her transition into a new sport is as smooth as can be. Along the way, she found mentors in several high-level MMA fighters who believe in her potential. Claressa Shields has shown that he has the mettle to rise up to become a star and capture the attention of fans.

Claressa Shields touches on Conor McGregor’s influence

One of the high-profile MMA fighters who has reached out to Claressa Shields has been Conor McGregor. ‘The Notorious’ is on record supporting Shields and is excited to see how she makes the switch. In fact, Claressa Shields revealed to Oscar Willis from ‘TheMacLife’ that Conor McGregor had sent her tips regarding the art of MMA striking.

“I’m super excited that he’s excited about me fighting. I’m happy that everybody’s respecting my work ethic you know, and some people put me higher than what I put myself right now but it’s great to have another great reach out to you who’s been great in the sport of MMA like Jonny Bones, Holly Holmes, Nate Diaz, Conor McGregor.”

“To have them reach out and let me know that they’re going to be watching and also to give me some tips. McGregor has sent me tips on like look ‘you need to work on this, get balance on that one foot, get used to bouncing on that single leg so you can pull your leg out like just even that.”

Claressa Shields has made her mark in boxing and now is on the cusp of possibly reaching stardom in MMA.
