“Never Stop Fighting”: New Nike Shoes of Serena Williams Etches Daughter Olympia’s Name

That she gets custom-made shoes from Nike as part of a deal with the global sportswear giant is well known, but not many know the messages that are inscribed on signature footwear of Serena Williams for the French Open.

However, Shutterstock, global provider of stock images, has now put out some shots of the shoes to be worn by the 23-time Grand Slam champion at the French Open .

Nike shoes of Serena Williams are also embossed with inspiring words

The images focus only on Serena’s feet, capturing the inspiring words that are embossed on them.

The global photo repository has put the images on its official Twitter page with the message, “The Nike tennis shoes of Serena Williams, featuring the phrases ‘Never Stop Fighting” & “I don’t like to lose at anything but…I’ve grown most not from victories but setbacks”.

What’s more, the shoes are also embossed with the name of her three-year-old daughter Alexis Olympia.

The motivational messages on her footwear remind her to put in her absolute best every time she steps on court.

And, fight is precisely what the 39-year-old champion has on her mind as she arrives at the French capital.

She has been struggling to rid herself of the bogey of reaching her 24th career Grand Slam title for the last three years and would love to end her wait at Roland-Garros.

Serena has a tough road to glory at French Open

Serena came into the Australian Open this year, hoping to put an end to her title drought and go level with the legendary Margaret Court’s career haul of Grand Slam trophies in her homeland.

She seemed to be racing towards her goal, felling opponents with typically effortless wins aided by her brutal power game, till she ran into her nemesis, Naomi Osaka, in the semifinals.

The American couldn’t bring her best game to the park on the day it mattered the most, going down in straight sets to the Japanese star, who eventually went on to lift the title.

She didn’t play any events post the Melbourne Park heartbreak before returning to competitive action in Rome.

However, her first event on clay this year ended in disappointment as well, as she went down in the tournament opener to unheralded Argentine Nadia Podoroska.

Keen to return to winning ways, she travelled to WTA Parma but lost in the fourth round to Czech Katerina Siniakova.
