Teofimo Lopez Sr. Reveals the Worst Mistake Deontay Wilder’s Trainer Is Making

A year ago, the scary Deontay Wilder lost his very first professional boxing bout to Tyson Fury. Prior to this fight, Wilder was perceived as unbeatable because he possessed a magnetic aura and an unusual style of fighting. Yet, in this fight, the Alabama native got badly exposed with his game plan and strategies, thus capitulating to a dreadful defeat.

Ahead of the trilogy, the entire boxing world is analyzing the two heavyweights. In a chat with FightHype.com, Teofimo Lopez‘s father detailed the biggest mistake Wilder’s trainer is making.

“I think the worst mistake that the trainers are doing right now with Wilder is they are trying to teach him how to box. At his age, it’s too late. You learn this s*** when you’re like six years old,” he said.

Teofimo Lopez Sr. even asserted that Wilder needs to work on his tactics. He pointed out that he would do a lot of backward drills with ‘The Bronze Bomber’, as he feels that’s a juncture where Wilder is weak.

Moreover, Lopez Sr. added that Wilder should have taken on other contenders to get his confidence back. Instead, because of a ruling from a court, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ will make his return against ‘The Gypsy King’.

Per reports, they will box each other on July 24. In this bout, Wilder will look to silence the belief that the third fight will be exactly like the second.

Deontay Wilder is all charged up to turn the tables in a trilogy

The 42-1-1 boxer is eager to emerge victorious from his road to redemption, thus reclaiming his hard-earned heavyweight title. And in order to achieve the same, Wilder is leaving no stones unturned in his preparations.

Over the past few weeks, Wilder has immersed himself in paramount workouts. In fact, he’s even adopted some unusual training forms in order to prepare for this high-voltage trilogy.

This trilogy is the biggest, perhaps the important fight for Wilder’s career. That said, he will look ahead to win this contest by any means.

On a scale of 1-10, how much do you agree with Teofimo Lopez Sr.’s comments? According to you, what changes should Wilder bring into his training camp against Fury?
