Kim Kardashian has been slapped with a lawsuit filed by domestic workers who claim she cut corners in their employment at her Santa Monica home.

A number of claims have been made against the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star by seven people involved with the civil action, which was filed at Los Angeles County Superior Court earlier this week.

What are the claims against Kim Kardashian in the lawsuit?

The lawsuit details grievances including Kardashian’s alleged withholding of 10 percent of their wages for tax without registering their employment, as well as erratic pay periods, a lack of legally required breaks, no reimbursed work expenses and owed wages, according to NBC News.

The legal papers state: ‘Plaintiffs never received any paystubs, were not paid on regular pay periods, were not given their required meal and rest breaks, were not provided a means to record all their hours, were not paid all their hours, were not reimbursed for employment expenses, were not paid all their overtime wages, and were not paid their wages upon termination of employment.’

The staff undertook their duties at the 40-year-old TV star’s home in the exclusive gated community of Hidden Hills in Santa Monica.

How much is Kardashian being sued for?

There is no exact figure specified for the amount the workers are seeking from Kardashian.

However, according to the lawsuit, ‘the matter in controversy, exclusive of interest, exceeds $25,000’.

What has Kardashian said in response to the lawsuit?

A statement made by a representative on behalf of Kardashian says she cannot be held legally responsible for these matters as she employed the workers through an unidentified ‘vendor’.

‘These workers were hired and paid through a third-party vendor hired by Kim to provide ongoing services’, the representative explained.

‘Kim is not party to the agreement made between the vendor and their workers, therefore she is not responsible for how the vendor manages their business and the agreements they have made directly with their staff.

‘Kim has never not paid a vendor for their services and hopes that the issue between these workers and the vendor who hired them can be amicably resolved soon.’

Kardashian has also addressed the lawsuit on social media – asked about it by a follower, she replied on Instagram Stories: ‘Absolutely, I respect people for their time and their hard work and unfortunately these workers are suing the wrong person.

‘I paid the vendor and it’s their job to pay their staff. I hope that they are able to get this issue resolved soon.’
