Alison Hammond managed to keep her cool in an unexpected situation when a dog weed live on TV during a This Morning segment.

On Friday’s edition of the ITV show, Alison and her co-host Dermot O’Leary welcomed vet Dr Scott Miller onto the programme to advise viewers on how to administer first aid on pets.

However, the segment was disrupted when Dr Scott’s dog Skully, an adorable bichon, toy poodle and coton de tulear mix, decided to urinate on the This Morning carpet.

As Dr Scott realised what was happening, he immediately appeared extremely embarrassed, raising his hand to his head.

‘Oh gosh, sorry everyone,’ he said apologetically.

Dermot chuckled over the unfortunate situation, exclaiming: ‘Oh man!’

But Alison stayed calm and collected, stating that it was fortunately only a ‘little’ piddle.

Dermot joked that Skully likely looked around the This Morning studio and thought: ‘Do you know what this place looks like? My home,’ while marking her territory as dogs do.

As the three of them laughed, Dr Scott continued Dermot’s joke, imagining Skully thinking: ‘This is mine, all mine.’

Dr Scott first brought Skully home to his family in July 2016, explaining that he delivered the dog himself by caesarean.

Several This Morning viewers found the mishap on today’s show hilarious, with one tweeting: ‘Dr Scott’s dog wondering if it had time for a s**t before the break.’

‘Such a bichon thing to do,’ someone else remarked about the dog breed.

‘She just p***ed all over the rug,’ another person tweeted with a cry-laughing emoji, while someone else commented: ‘LOLLLL Scully.’

Earlier on the show, Alison explained her opposition to homework, stating that in her opinion, it has ‘limited purpose’.

‘If you’re doing after school clubs, you’ve got loads of stuff to do plus family life, and then to have a full on essay to do when you come home which could have probably been done at school, it’s a lot of stress on the family life, on me, pressuring to get it done. I just think it’s not necessary,’ she said.

Alison added that she doesn’t ‘feel like any of my son’s homework benefits him in the slightest’, outlining how homework can be ‘stressful’ for her son as he has dyslexia.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
