Dillian Whyte Goes All Out on Oleksandr Usyk, Says His Fight with Anthony Joshua is Dead

The undisputed heavyweight title fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury has abruptly fallen through. That said, both Joshua and Fury will get lined up with different opponents to defend their respective titles. Citing that, the only viable opponent for Anthony Joshua is Oleksandr Usyk. However, the WBC interim heavyweight champion, Dillian Whyte, feels that this fight is dead.

Recently, Whyte, who was in a conversation with Sky Sports, talked about the Joshua vs Usyk fight and more. He said, “It’s a dead fight. Usyk hasn’t looked good.”

“Who has he fought at heavyweight? Chazz Witherspoon, Derek Chisora. He looked terrible in the fights. He has no punch power.”

“Usyk is not a true heavyweight contender.”

Before moving to heavyweight, the Ukrainian boxer competed at cruiserweight. Looking at his performances in that weight category, ‘The Body Snatcher’ feels Usyk‘s movements were nice. But ever since he’s moved up, his movements are negative according to Whyte.

Usyk has been asking for an Anthony Joshua fight ever since ‘AJ’ claimed a win over Kubrat Pulev in December 2020. The Ukrainian has made himself viable for the title shot by beating many opponents in the line. But regardless of Usyk being a mandatory contender for Joshua, Whyte is still optimistic about confronting and beating ‘AJ’ in a rematch.

Joshua handed Whyte first career loss in 2015. Despite that, ‘The Body Snatcher’ made a good impression. He said, “Anthony Joshua almost got knocked out when I fought him. If you watch the clips back you hear him saying, ‘If I took one more body shot from him, I would have folded in half.’”

“These guys know regardless, win, lose or draw. I come to give work,” said Whyte.

Since that fight, ‘The Body Snatcher’ worked on his prowess and made himself one of the most terrifying names in the heavyweight roster. With that, it’ll be interesting to see if he really gets his hands on the unified heavyweight champ once again.
