If you ever need a lesson in making a statement on the red carpet, look no further than Doja Cat.

The rapper exuded goddess vibes as she walked the red carpet at the iHeartRadio Music Awards in a completely sheer gown.

The 25-year-old rocked the jade sheer look, which was originally the finale from Brandon Maxwell’s Fall/Winter 2020 Runway show, wearing just a pair of green pants underneath.

The layered detail around the neck covered Doja’s chest and prevented any major wardrobe malfunctions as the star, real name Amala Dlamini, twirled and swished her dress at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

Doja paired the dress with a matching green manicure, gold earrings and poker straight hair.

Doja isn’t the first celeb to wear the ethereal gown, as Gigi Hadid wore it for her pregnancy shoot before giving birth to her daughter Khai last year.

Maternity shoots, showstopping red carpet jaunts – it really is a gown for all occasions.

It was a good night for Doja, as the Say So star was named best new pop artist, beating 24kGoldn, blackbear, JP Saxe and the late Pop Smoke.

She also staged an alien-themed performance, singing a medley of her tracks Say So, the TikTok smash Streets, and Kiss Me More, her collaboration with SZA, while running around a cornfield.

‘UFOs’ then joined her on stage, before Doja levitated into the air as she was abducted by a spaceship.

The concept is linked to the release of her third studio album Planet Her, which she said will be ‘the most visually captivating project I’m going to be doing’.

Speaking to iHeartRadio, she explained: ‘We’re kind of basing it all in space.

‘It’s about relationships and kind of run-of-the-mill relationship stuff but I love it. It’s new; the fact that it’s new makes me excited. It’s not a huge political statement, it’s just “Planet Her.”’

The album is set for release this summer.

Doja’s appearance at the iHeartRadio Music Awards came a week after she performed Kiss Me More at the Billboard Music Awards with SZA, and won the award for top R&B female artist.
