Get an Xbox Series S console for £40 with GAME’s new trade-in offer
A next generation Xbox could be yours for £99 or less if you trade-in your old last gen console at GAME.
The main problem with next generation consoles at the moment is simply getting hold of them but the next most obvious is that they’re really expensive.
Both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X cost £449.99 and that’s assuming you don’t pay over the odds from scalpers. The Xbox Series S though is considerably cheaper, at £249.99, but it can be cheaper still if you trade in your old console in part exchange for it.
GAME has started a new trade-in offer where you can get an Xbox Series for £49.99 if you trade in a PS4 Pro 1TB or Xbox One X 1TB at the same time. Or, if you want to give up your Switch, you can get an Xbox Series S for just £39.99.
If you trade in an ordinary Xbox One or PlayStation 4 then you have to pay £99.99 for an Xbox Series S, but that’s still a significant saving given that the value of the last gen console is rapidly plummeting.
The offer starts today and will run only until June 14, as long as you have all the cables and an official controller. Plus, you’ll have to have a GAME reward account. There’s more details here.
A cynical mind might wonder whether this means that GAME has a surfeit of Xbox Series S that it needs to get rid of, as right from the start the cheaper console has been easier to get hold of than the other two and never sells out as quickly.
It is a good value option though, as while it doesn’t have a disc drive and isn’t as powerful as the Xbox Series X the only real difference is that it can’t usually output at native 4K – which if you don’t have a 4K TV won’t matter anyway.
Whether that’s worth trading in your existing console for you’ll have to decide yourself but there’s unlikely to be a better deal on it anytime soon.
