Josh Taylor Drops “Cold, Hard Facts” on Teofimo Lopez

Right after his win over Jose Ramirez, the unified titlist, Josh Taylor, who is targeting the champions of other weight classes, hasn’t shied away from calling them out. After aiming at the 147 lbs champion Terence Crawford, Taylor has now belittled Teofimo Lopez.

Although Lopez vs Taylor can be an intriguing matchup, the 140 lbs champion doesn’t seem interested. Meanwhile, Lopez’s father has already hinted at putting his son against the ‘Tartan Tornado’. That said, Josh Taylor didn’t acknowledge Teofimo Lopez as a unified champion.

He took to social media and compared his stature to that of Teofimo Lopez. While both men hold world titles at their respective divisions, Teofimo Lopez is just a WBC (franchise) lightweight champion, with Devin Haney holding the actual belt. This could be the catalyst to an in-ring feud between the two.

Josh Taylor vs Teofimo Lopez- Will it happen?

It’s evident Taylor doesn’t appear allured by Teofimo Lopez’s resume. But the 23-year-old is open to facing the undefeated super-lightweight champion. Prior to his own title defense against George Kambosos Jr, ‘Take Over’ and his father connected with Fight Hub TV to talk about Josh Taylor.

“We want Josh Taylor. We want Josh Taylor next but he’s already punking out because he knows what’s going on. There’s no way Josh could beat my son. He got no skills. He’s got a little bit of good skills here and there but he doesn’t think like my son, like you’re playing a checkers match against a chess match,” said Lopez Sr. (H/T:- Bad Left Hook)

Both the undefeated boxers are the respective champions of their roster. So, they can stage an absolute unification that would garner attention from the whole boxing world. However, a match would only really pick up steam if ‘Take Over’ can emerge from his war against ‘Ferocious’ with all his belts intact.
