Shia LaBeouf has been ordered to attend therapy and anger management sessions following misdemeanour battery and theft charges.

The 34-year-old actor was charged with one count of misdemeanour battery and one count of misdemeanour theft after an alleged incident on June 12 2020, where LaBeouf allegedly used force and violence against a young man and took a hat belonging to him.

LaBeouf appeared in court on Thursday where a judge ordered him to complete a judicial diversion program in 12 months in relation to the charges.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office told E! the terms of the program include mandatory therapy once a week which will also include anger management, random alcohol testing as well as participation in the 12-step sobriety program, no use of force or violence, no possession of weapons, remaining 100 yards away from the victim with no contact to them, remaining 100 yards away from the site of the confrontation, and generally obeying the law.

LaBeouf will also be required to wear a Soberlink device to monitor alcohol.

Upon successful completion of the judicial diversion program, his charges could be dropped.

Diversion programs like this allow minor offenders to avoid jail time by fulfilling certain conditions including rehabilitation or community service.

Separately, the Disturbia actor faces a lawsuit from ex-girlfriend FKA twigs, who has accused LaBeouf of ‘relentless’ abuse and sexual battery, and knowingly giving her a sexually transmitted disease.

In the lawsuit, filed in December 2020, the 32-year-old singer also alleged several instances of physical abuse.

A former girlfriend of LaBeouf’s, Karolyn Pho, also alleges that the actor once headbutted her after drunkenly pinning her to a bed.

LaBeouf’s legal team has denied every one of the claims, and deny that twigs suffered any damages or injuries from LaBeouf, asserting that her sexual battery claims should be dismissed because ‘none of the acts alleged were based on sex and/or the conduct was not sexual’.

In September, LaBeouf was replaced in Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling by Harry Styles, and it was later reported that he had been fired by Wilde due to his ‘poor behaviour’.

Metro.co.uk has contacted LaBeouf’s rep for comment.
