‘He’s Done’- Colby Covington Says Jon Jones is ‘Never Fighting Again’

UFC welterweight contender Colby Covington spoke out on the ‘MMA Roasted’ podcast and went in on his current career trajectory. ‘Chaos’ touched on everything from his eagerness to fight Kamaru Usman again and his various beefs and political ties. Chiefly, Covington was asked to chime in on Jon Jones and share his candid views on what’s next for ‘Bones’.

Covington and Jones were briefly associated with each other during their days on the collegiate wrestling circuit. Since then, their relationship has deteriorated and Colby Covington hasn’t held back on his unsavory sentiments towards Jones. He believes that Jones is washed and that his time fighting at the top of the sport is behind him.

“No, he’s [Jon Jones] not fighting at heavyweight man. He’s done, he doesn’t have the right scientist, the right juice to do anymore. He knows he’s done. He’s trying to get one more cash grab and hope that it’s so much money that he doesn’t have to do anything but I don’t think he’s ever fighting again. I just don’t see it.”

“If he wanted a fight, he would have fought already. He would have went back to light heavyweight and fought Jan or something. He’s too small for heavyweight man. He’s just looking to get a big cash grab with Francis but he knows he’s going to get knocked out so he’s trying to get as much money as he can to take that a** beating”

Jon Jones: Will UFC fans see him return to action

Contrary to Covington’s views that Jones is done, Jon Jones’ recent actions tell a different story. News recently came out that Jones had hired famed boxing promoter, Richard Schaefer, to negotiate a deal with the UFC to fight Francis Ngannou. Jones let go of his ties with the Kawa brothers of First Round Management in favor of a new approach.

UFC President Dana White has openly stated that he’ll be willing to work with Schaefer in order to make a deal come together. The tide may very well be turning in favor of Jones who is looking to secure the biggest fight of his career.

However, as it stands, Jon Jones has stated that he’s willing to take a backseat and not fight in 2021.
