“I’m Looking Forward to It”- Sting Opens Up on In-Ring Return Ahead of AEW Double or Nothing 2021

The wrestling world is all set to see WCW legend Sting between the ropes once again as he returns to perform at Double or Nothing in what would be his first live in-ring match in over 5 years.

Expectations are high for the veteran and the presence of a live audience after well over a year of their absence makes his performance pivotal to the outcome of the show.

However, the pressure doesn’t seem to be getting ahold of Sting, and the AEW star is embracing the excitement of finally having fans back to watch him from the stands.

“It’s exciting. Especially exciting because we’ll have a full crowd. [Laughs] No one is going to deny the fact that it is different wrestling in front of a COVID audience, with the distancing and nobody there. It’s different,” Sting said, speaking to Paste.

“I know those NBA players and everyone had to have felt it the same way. To have all the people is going to be fantastic. I’m looking forward to it. I haven’t forgotten all those matches in the past in front of big crowds and how exciting that all is, and I know it’s going to be just the same. It’s going to be incredible on Sunday,” he remarked.

Fans are excited to see Sting perform yet again

Sting has been used very carefully in AEW and his work as Darby Allin’s manager has really taken off for the pair. Allin’s character has a lot more depth to it now more than ever due to the similarities with ‘The Icon’ and a mentor role suits him better at this stage of his career.

The former WWE Superstar’s match at Double or Nothing may well be his last, given the fact that he can’t absorb shocks the same way he could a decade ago. He also revealed that he still feels the aftershocks of the major powerbomb he took from Brian Cage which was all the way back in February this year.

Fans will jump at the opportunity to see Sting wrestle live again which is why Tony Khan is putting all his cards on Double or Nothing’s massive success this Sunday. The AEW President is confident of a new era with the return of fans and Sting could play a huge role in that alongside Darby Allin.
