It’s time we held China to account

IT is crucial that the West gets to the bottom of China’s Covid cover-up.

Explosive new evidence suggests the virus was created in a lab and researchers used science to hide their tracks.

A 22-page dossier says Covid has the characteristics of a man-made disease that was later “retro-engineered” to look natural.

Claims that the bug originated in a Wuhan lab rather than a street market are nothing new.

But they were too often brushed aside as just another Donald Trump scare story.

The toothless World Health Organisation was led on a merry dance by the Communist regime and came away with nothing from its Wuhan investigation.

But these highly disturbing new findings have emerged just as American President Joe Biden has ordered a fresh probe.

Western experts are increasingly suspicious that Covid escaped from the lab in what would be one of history’s most terrible scientific blunders.

But it would be far worse if the Chinese deliberately deceived the world by manipulating the bug to conceal its origins.

If proven, that would be an outrageous crime against humanity.

More than 3million have died in the pandemic and economies destroyed.

The West must demand answers and ensure China is accountable for its actions.

Woes of furlough

RISHI Sunak’s furlough scheme is a vital lifeline that has saved millions of jobs.

But the initiative is now stopping some businesses getting back on their feet.

The Chancellor must think long and hard about another four months of furlough[/caption]

Pubs and restaurants are finding many furloughed workers are reluctant to hurry back, sparking a recruitment crisis.

About 250,000 hospitality workers remain on furlough with up to 80 per cent of their wages paid by the state — but businesses need to fill 700,000 vacancies.

The scheme, which runs until October, was never meant to damage firms that have suffered enough during lockdown.

The Chancellor must think long and hard about another four months of this.

He’s not Cumming

CONGRATULATIONS to newly-wed Boris and Carrie!

The Sun revealed last Monday that the pair had sent invites to a celebration of their marriage next year.

But the speed of yesterday’s secret nuptials was a shock.

One thing about the hush-hush wedding wasn’t a surprise though.

There was no sign of Dominic Cummings on the guest list!
