Mercedes Strut Their Social Media Skills Yet Again by Trolling Themselves Over Wheel Nut Fiasco

Mercedes F1 are not only renowned for having the best cars and drivers on the grid, but also for their brilliant social media team. The Silver Arrows are just as competent on the internet as they are out on the track. It should come as no surprise that the Brackley-based outfit’s social media team would manage to create boatloads of content off the back of the Valtteri Bottas’ wheel nut fiasco in Monaco. One ingeniously hilarious idea involved them going back to an older video to say ‘Hi’ to all the viewers watching the video thanks to the Monaco debacle.

The title of the video was, ‘F1 Wheel Guns Explained!’ This video was posted on the Silver Arrows’ very own Youtube channel on 16th December 2020. Seeing the title of the video, it undoubtedly attracted a mass viewership after the events in Monaco. And this increase in new comments and boost in viewership numbers clearly didn’t go unnoticed.

Mercedes YouTube sense of humor about the world record longest pit stop from formula1

Mercedes’ social media team pinned their own comment that read, “Hi to everyone here after Monaco 2021.”

Clearly the team is pushing all the right buttons to make sure their fans feel like family. And this surely won’t be the last of it. They also recently posted a video on their Twitter account showing how the jammed wheel nut was finally undone.

With the wheel nut fiasco behind them, Mercedes will want to rebound in Baku

Now that the wheel nut chapter has been closed, the Brackley-based team will want to solely dedicate their focus to the next race. Even apart from the aforementioned incident, it was largely a weekend to forget.

Neither of the two drivers had the pace in the streets of Monte Carlo. The team’s strategy call also did not aid Hamilton, who finished P7. So a whole lot did go wrong for them last weekend.

In many ways, it was an un-Mercedes like weekend. But these are a rarity, so expect the 7-times world champions to bounce back in style. Baku is a track where they have had success before, winning the last two races there.

Considering the challenge from Red Bull will be much stronger this time around, expect the race in Azerbaijan to be a thriller.
