Paddington 2 dethroned from perfect Rotten Tomatoes score by one negative review
Paddington 2 has lost its perfect Rotten Tomatoes score due to one negative review.
Say it ain’t so!
The sequel received universal acclaim upon its release back in 2017 and secured three Baftas nominations – including one for best British film.
The movie gained 245 positive reviews, resulting in its 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and recently was hailed as the top-rated film on the site, after a negative Citizen Kane review from 1941 was discovered which caused the Orson Wells classic to drop from 100% to 99%.
Paddington 2, however, has now suffered a similar fate to Citizen Kane, as a negative review from Film Authority was added years after its release.
The review branded the situations in which the titular bear finds himself in as ‘contrived and ridiculous.’
‘I reviewed Paddington 2 negatively for BBC radio on release in 2017, and on multiple occasions after that, and I stand by every word of my criticism,’ wrote critic Eddie Harrison.
The 2017 film sees Paddington attempting to find the perfect birthday gift for Aunt Lucy.
However, after the gift is stolen and he is arrested and imprisoned, Paddington’s family must prove his innocence.
Ben Whishaw voiced the loveable bear. Hugh Grant, Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Brendan Gleeson, Jim Broadbent, Julie Walters and Peter Capaldi also feature in the popular flick.
A third Paddington movie is currently in the works.
