Teofimo Lopez Says He Will “Throw Away” Devin Haney’s Belt After Beating Him
Teofimo Lopez will step inside the squared circle on June 19 for his first world title defense. In this contest, he will lock horns with the Australian boxer, George Kambosos Jr. who himself is undefeated. Despite being the lesser experienced of the two, Lopez is supremely confident in putting up a show in this fight.
Even before his defense, ‘The Takeover’ was focused on another potential opponent in Devin Haney. In a chat with SnowQueenLa, he fired some verbal blows at ‘The Dream’.
He said, “I’ve been warning Devin for the fraud that he is. That’s all it is. I’ve been warning him for the fraud he really truly is. It’s not about that belt. When I win and I beat Devin, Imma put a f***in email stamp on that belt. And I’ma throw it away. Because it doesn’t mean anything, it’s bulls***.”
The rift between Haney and Lopez isn’t new to fight fans. In fact, the duo has traded enormous verbal jabs with each other from their early days in the sport.
‘The Takeover’ has always asked for rugged contenders to touch gloves with. Considering this, ‘The Dream’ is a prime name on his hit list. That said, the pair is currently lined up to face different opponents. Hence, they will have to win in order to talk about a potential unification bout.

Teofimo Lopez vs Devin Haney – A battle to be the best
Lopez and Haney both rank among the most elite faces of the 135-pound division. Until now, the pair have a combined 41-0 record.
Lopez became the unified lightweight king by beating the stout Vasyl Lomachenko in his last fight. This win saw him announce himself as the face of the lightweights. However, he still believes there’s one opponent he desperately needs to contend with, and that’s the WBC champ, Devin Haney.
This fight will play a pivotal role for both the pugilists. It will help everyone determine the actual king of the lightweight division.
