“They Mean So Much” – Kyle Busch on the Importance of Winning the Coca-Cola 600

This weekend, the NASCAR community heads to the Charlotte Motor Speedway. The Coca-Cola 600 is regarded as an important race for many drivers. Among the drivers is Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch, who has taken one win at the speedway. Recently, the 2-time Cup Series champion spoke about the importance of the track.

He said, “You definitely look towards those crown jewel moments in order to make sure you do the best you can. They mean so much, your name will go down as the guy who won 3-4-5, however many Coca-Cola 600s. You go to New Hampshire and win five races, that’s not that big a deal. It [Charlotte] definitely means something. There’s only one crown jewel event I haven’t won in my career and that is the Daytona 500.”

Naturally, that is his main target before he ultimately hangs up his boots. At places like Darlington, Southern 500, Coke 600, Brickyard 400 or Daytona 500, those are the most important races to win.

Kyle Busch is looking forward to this weekend’s race

For the moment, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver is training his focus on this weekend’s race at Charlotte. He has already won the Coca-Cola 600 once in his NASCAR Cup Series career. However, he would not be opposed to adding another one under his belt. On the other end of the scale, he knows that his rivals will not make things easy for him.

Hendrick Motorsports driver Chase Elliott will be high on confidence after winning the last race. Without a doubt, the defending champion will want to keep up his momentum and try to bag a second win.

This season has proven to be very unpredictable with multiple winners. Chase Elliott is simply the latest one to etch his name in the ever-growing list of 2021 race winners. So the question is, will there be yet another different winner, or will one of the previous winner notch up another.
