Cody Simpson has spoken out on his split from Miley Cyrus, insisting their relationship ended with no bad feelings.

The Australian star, 24, split from Wrecking Ball singer Miley in August last year.

After remaining silent about their break-up, Cody broke his silence during 60 Minutes on Sunday night.

The pop star said: ‘Everything ended fairly amicably, and it was just one of those phases I guess. You go through [it] and you learn a lot from it.’

Cody moved from Gold Coast in Australia to America when he was 13 in a bid to find pop stardom.

He was known for previously dating Kylie Jenner and Gigi Hadid before getting together with Miley.

After the split last year, Miley said she was taking time out to get to know herself better.

She said in an Instagram video: ‘Right now, two halves can’t make a whole and we’re individually just working on ourselves to become the people that we wanna be, like everybody else at this age.’

In February, the singer said she was looking forward to getting back on the dating scene when coronavirus is a thing of the past.

The Prisoner singer let fans know she’d soon be on the lookout for a new partner in a video of herself on Instagram at her pre-game Super Bowl show in Tampa, Florida.

She said: ‘I’m single now, you know. After Covid, I’m ready.’

It came after the former Disney star was seen getting all emotional on stage as she spoke of having her heart broken.

Miley struggled to sing the final chorus of her heartbreak hit Wrecking Ball, telling the crowd mid-chorus that it ‘never gets easier’ to sing the moving track.

Choking up, she later revealed on stage: ‘Singing that song, Wrecking Ball, about feeling completely broken and shattered… everyone suffering is different, even everyone’s threshold of pain.’

Miley explained: ‘I like to think I’ve got a pretty high tolerance, I wear a lot of glitter and I wear a lot of armour, and I also wear my heart on my sleeve.

‘And for that, it gets broken a lot and a lot of us have been feeling broken this year.’
