Rob Font Says Nobody Wants to See a Dominick Cruz Fight

Rob Font secured one of the biggest wins of his career at UFC Fight Night 188, defeating former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt via unanimous decision on the main event of the night. Since then, people from all over the world have been congratulating the fighter.

Font is currently No.3 in the UFC bantamweight rankings, and there has been much speculation as to who the fighter will face next. Recently, during an interview, Font was asked that if offered would he compete in a legacy fight with Jose Aldo or Dominick Cruz?

To this, the fighter replied, “Maybe the Aldo fight more than the Cruz one, the Cruz fight not so much. He’s nowhere near that belt at all. Jose is a little closer. He has the name, but nobody’s dying to watch Dominick Cruz fight. If anything, I’d probably fight Sean O’Malley before I’d fight Dominick Cruz.”

While ‘Sugar’ has been doing well in the bantamweight division, he is not yet one of the top guys in the division. Although, Font would still prefer to fight him rather than Cruz.

“That’s the guy that’s kind of buzzing right now. He’s got that name, and I can’t wait for him to fight. Nobody is sitting here dying to watch Dominick Cruz fight. But I’m not going to lie. I wouldn’t mind watching a ‘Sugar’ Sean fight. I think he’s the bigger name,” Font said.

Rob Font doesn’t want to fight backward

With his latest victory, Font has proven that he deserves to compete with the best of UFC. Font showed his class as he dominated his opponent throughout the fight. Therefore, he believes that after such a victory he doesn’t want to take a step back.

“I don’t want to fight backward. If it comes down to it, I’m assuming the Jose Aldo-Pedro Munhoz fight will be good. If Munhoz wins, I can avenge that loss. If Jose Aldo wins, that’s a pretty big name to jump in therewith.”

While Font is expecting to compete in the near future, he does not want to rush through things. “Realistically, I would rather wait to see how everything else plays out,” He said.

While it is not yet decided who Font will face next, It certainly will be one of the top fighters in the bantamweight division. Let us know who you think Font will face next?
