Who is Carwash on The Masked Dancer? All the clues, hints and theories

Those of you suffering withdrawal symptoms from The Masked Singer have a treat coming to your screen this week, in the shape of the spin-off series The Masked Dancer.

Joel Dommett has returned to front the show, airing on ITV all this week, as 12 mystery celebrities don some pretty distinctive costumes and strut their stuff in their bid to baffle judges Jonathan Ross, Oti Mabuse ,Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan – as well as the folks at home.

Among those showing off their moves on the stage is Carwash – but just who is hiding behind that fringed red-and-blue costume?

Here’s the clues we’ve been given so far to their identity…

What clues have been given about Carwash on the Masked Dancer?

• Is ready to pop bubbles

• They’re ready to ‘let it shine’

Who is Carwash on the Masked Dancer?

Matt Willis

Matt Willis is a musician, singer, songwriter, television personality and actor, best known as the bassist and the co-vocalist of the pop band, Busted.

The busted car wash sign is what made judges, as well as viewers, think that it could be him.

Jason Orange

Jason Orange is a singer, dancer and actor. He was a member of Take That during their original run from 1990 to 1996 and again following their reunion in 2005.

Judges were set on Carwash having been in a pop group, thanks to the bubbles reference and the fact that they said they liked to perform.

The hint that made judges think it could be Matt were the words ‘let it shine’, as Take That are known for their song Shine.

Lethal Bizzle

Going off the Ferrari reference, the judges’ third guess was rapper Lethal Bizzle, real name Maxwell Owusu Ansah.

One of his songs where he talks about his love of cars is Rari WorkOut.

Lethal Bizzle emerged in 2002 as a grime MC as part of More Fire Crew, with their single Oi! charting in the top 10 of the UK Singles Chart.

Jay Kay from Jamiroquai

Again going off of the car reference, they guessed Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay.

Jay has shared his love of cars before and owns an Enzo Ferrari.

Who is left on the Masked Dancer?

The people that are left are Carwash, Rubber Chicken, Beagle, Squirrel and Frog.

A total of 12 celebrities will take part each week and just like The Masked Singer, the stars will be totally hidden thanks to their larger than life costumes.
