The Masked Dancer has arrived to brighten up our Saturday nights, and Scarecrow has already got people talking.

Performing to Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick’s version of the Earth, Wind & Fire classic September on the show, this Scarecrow was definitely outstanding in their field.

Joel Dommett introduced the contestant’s first appearances of the series on Saturday, as Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan and newbie Oti Mabuse kept a close eye on their moves.

As the 12 celebs battle it out, who could be the star underneath the mask?

We’ve got a few ideas!

What clues have been given about Scarecrow?

The first clues of the series showed that Scarecrow was keen on recycling and housekeeping.

‘Look who it is, it’s me! Scarecrow!’ the dancer said. ‘Hey, I hope I didn’t frighten you. Who am I kidding? I haven’t scared anyone in years. That’s the trouble with old charity clothes.’

‘I’m wearing the latest up-cycled season, but the pesky clothes, they just don’t scare anyone. But I take great pride in my work,’ they added.

‘The best bit, I get to choose my pose every morning. I’m so excited, tonight is my night off. Break a wooden leg!’

The dancer also pulled out a magic wand during one section of the show – but what could it mean?

Offering up another clue with missing words, Scarecrow: ‘My BLANK was part of a BLANK story but it wasn’t happily ever after.’

There’s another clue, too, which Davina may have let slip on Lorraine earlier this week. Fans believe she could have given away the star’s gender, after saying: ‘Scarecrow, in particular – every time she came out, there was an extra clue in her dungarees.’

Viewers were quick to speculate online after Saturday’s show, and the same names kept coming up again and again.

Who could be Scarecrow on the Masked Dancer?

Heather Mills

Could it be former model Heather? (Picture: PA)

One of the most popular guesses so far for Scarecrow among fans seems to be former model and activist Heather Mills.

Fans believe the ‘choose my pose every morning’ line is a possible nod to her modelling career, while the ‘break a wooden leg’ line could be referring to her prosthetic limb.

‘Scarecrow is heather mills? Model and has a false leg,’ one fan wrote.

Sheridan Smith

One of the guesses cropping up on social media so far has been Sheridan Smith.

‘I think Scarecrow was in Inside No 9, maybe Sheridan Smith?’ one viewer speculated, pointing out the possible reference to ‘scaring’ fans in the dark comedy.

Could it be her?

H from Steps

Some viewers believe Ian ‘H’ Watkins could be under the mask/

One wrote: ‘Our prediction for Scarecrow on #MaskedDancerUK is @IanHWatkins from @OfficialSteps.’

‘I have a feeling Scarecrow is H from Steps…probably totally wrong though,’ another said.

Other names that kept cropping up on social media were Joe Suggs, Michelle Keegan, Katie Price and Declan Donnelly.

The Masked Dancer returns tomorrow at 7:30pm on ITV.
