Tensions were brewing on Good Morning Britain as Adil Ray ripped into Charlotte Hawkins’ accent much to her annoyance on today’s programme.
Former Strictly Come Dancing star Charlotte kicked off the show by revealing to audiences she went out over the weekend, however, she was quickly mocked by her co-star over her annunciation.
‘I went out on Saturday night for the first time in however long, so that was a nice experience,’ the 46-year-old presenter shared.
‘And who were you with? Lady Chatterly?’ replied Adil in an over-the-top dialect.
‘It’s just not true, I don’t know where you’ve got this impression of me!’ Charlotte insisted.
But Adil continued to imitate Charlotte, with her hitting back: ‘No, but that’s judging me on my accent.
‘Just because I grew up in Sussex, I speak like this.’
Adil continued: ‘Yeah but you like classical music, it all sort of fits into place…’
However, Charlotte still wasn’t impressed with Adil’s line of firing and hit back: ‘Yeah but that doesn’t mean I’m part of the nobility does it?’
Thankfully newsreader Sean Fletcher was on hand to diffuse the two presenters, and pointed out: ‘You do know you’ve got two and half hours to go together?’
‘I know, this is not a good start,’ Charlotte noted.
Elsewhere on today’s Good Morning Britain, Sean dropped a glaring clue that Susanna Reid is one of the contestants on the brand new series The Masked Dancer.
Susanna has been linked to being under the Knickerbocker Glory costume on ITV’s Masked Singer spin-off, which is hosted by Joel Dommett and judged by Jonathan Ross, Oti Mabuse, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
