Eddie Hearn Announces New Date for Canelo Alvarez vs. Caleb Plant

Canelo Alvarez is just one more belt away from being the undisputed super middleweight champion. While Caleb Plant’s IBF strap appears to be his goal at 168 lbs, the unification matchup is likely to go down within a few months.

Matchroom Kingpin Eddie Hearn has already begun working for the fight and has come up with a potential date. That said, Canelo Alvarez vs Caleb ‘Sweethands’ Plant is still far from receiving official confirmation.

In a chat with FightHype.com, Eddie Hearn said, “Yeah, September the 11th is like the date. We got the 11th and the 18th. I believe that Mexican Independence day is on a Wednesday. So, it’s another one like sinking tomorrow.”

Eddie Hearn and Canelo Alvarez have worked together in three blockbuster events back-to-back since December 2020. Following the Mexican’s latest win over Billy Joe Saunders for the WBO belt, it’s time for another unification fight. While Hearn has successfully unveiled lucrative deals for the P4P king, Alvarez may look to continue his partnership with Matchroom.
