Good Morning Britain’s Adil Ray has clashed with former The Apprentice star Bushra Shaikh who said she would refuse to quarantine after returning from holiday in the future.
People going on holiday to amber listed countries must quarantine when returning home to the UK, but Bushra said she wasn’t going to do so.
Bushra, who appeared on the business series in 2017, was branded ‘totally irresponsible’ by Adil on Monday’s show.
NHS palliative care doctor Rachel Clarke also criticised her stance, and stressed that she could spread Covid-19 when she got back.
‘I find that incredibly and spectacularly selfish,’ Doctor Rachel said.
‘Your selfishness could cause people to die,’ Adil added.
‘Oh give over, it’s not selfishness,’ Bushra hit back.
‘As parents and grown ups we all have a responsibility and the rules may not look the same for everyone, so although we are supposed to quarantine for 10 days, I could do a Covid test every single day,’ she said.
‘I could do certain things to make sure my family and I are not putting anyone at risk after we come back from holiday. We can’t imprison people for this long, we are adults.’
GMB viewers were infuriated by her comments, branding her ‘selfish’ and ‘irresponsible’.
‘Bushra [is] one hell of a selfish, irresponsible person,’ one viewer wrote.
Another said: ‘Never seen a more selfish, self entitled person than Bushra Shaikh on @GMB. Says she won’t isolate if coming back from an Amber country. For the sake of everyone who has sacrificed so much over last 18mths I do hope the police will be monitoring her movements. #covid #lawbreaker.’
‘There are some intensely ignorant and selfish people on earth and #bushra on
@GMB is at the top of the list today and always,’ a third added.
This Morning airs on weekdays at 10am on ITV.
