John Barrowman has taken to Instagram to thanks ‘fans for support’ while his place on Dancing on Ice hangs in the balance after inappropriate behaviour.

Barrowman previously apologised for exposing himself repeatedly on the set of Torchwood, insisting it was just ‘tomfoolery’.

The Captain Jack Harkness spoke out after two former runners came forward with allegations that he would ‘get his genitals out on a regular basis’.

Posting a video to his Instagram account today, the actor said: ‘I just want to say thank you very much to all of my fan family and to everybody who has reached out with countless messages of support over the last few weeks.

‘It has meant such a great deal to me and has really touched me to know that people are supporting me and standing by me and sending their love, appreciation and kind words.

‘Hopefully, we will all be together sometime soon and I look forward to it. Much love and thank you.’

This comes after The Sun said Dancing on Ice bosses feel they cannot have the 54-year-old return to the programme later in 2021.

A source told the publication: ‘Ever since allegations against John came to light, discussions have been ongoing over his future on the panel of Dancing On Ice.

‘But the feeling now is there is no way we can invite him back. ITV has shown they are prepared to act decisively when stars are accused of inappropriate behaviour. And it seems this situation will not be the exception to the rule.’

Barrowman recently told The Guardian that his behaviour was ‘only ever intended in good humour to entertain colleagues on set and backstage’.

‘With the benefit of hindsight, I understand that upset may have been caused by my exuberant behaviour and I have apologised for this previously,’ he added.

‘Since my apology in November 2008, my understanding and behaviour have also changed.’

When approached for comment by Metro.co.uk, an ITV spokeswoman said: ‘Any discussions regarding the 2022 series of Dancing on Ice are very premature. Production has yet to commence.’
