Piers Morgan giddy as he receives ‘National Icon’ letter but his followers aren’t convinced it’s legit
Piers Morgan recently declared he has ‘never been more popular’ so he was obviously buzzing to receive a mystery letter that had addressed him as a ‘national icon’, confirming what he already knows to be true.
The letter, which the former Good Morning Britain presenter received on Monday, only had the words ‘Mr Piers Morgan’ followed by ‘National Icon’ on the front. No address, no location, nada.
Somehow the post still managed to wing its way to the man himself and into his own fair hands despite the postman having absolutely nothing to go on.
Piers shared a picture of the strange message on social media with the caption: ‘It got to me’, adding a laughing emoji.
Although Piers was feeling giddy, his followers on Twitter weren’t so convinced the letter was the real deal and joked that the presenter had posted it to himself as an ego boost.
One suspicious fan said: ‘Why can’t we see what else is on the envelope? It probably has your actual address as the 3rd and 4th lines down.’
‘That’s your own writing isn’t it?’ another tweeted in response while another wondered: ‘You sent that to yourself right?’
Further responses read: ‘Did it ever leave your house in the first place though?’ and ‘Why are you writing yourself a letter?’
‘Looks like you “accidentally” cropped for picture so you can’t see the rest of the address’ read another reply, among others who joked that the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle had sent it to him.
His divisive comments about the Duchess, saying he struggled to believe aspects of her explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey earlier this year, ultimately led to his departure from the ITV programme.

The Life Stories host declared in a recent interview that he ‘has never been more popular’ after the fallout.
‘She thinks she’s beaten me? She might be in for a surprise, because I suspect I’ll be back soon. And my views certainly haven’t changed,’ Piers told Daily Mail.
‘If Meghan thinks she has cancelled me or won the battle, she is in for a big shock. I’ve never been more popular.’
